AUTOMOTIVE CATALOGS DOUBLE IN NUMBER FROM 2002 to 2007,
ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL DIRECTORY OF CATALOGS

-- Online Catalogs Jump from 2,000 to 8,402 in Last Five Years --

New York City, April 30, 2007 - In the catalog industry, the number of automotive catalogs experienced major growth, jumping from 261 to 553 (118 % growth), in the last five years, according to the 2007 edition of The National Directory of Catalogs (www.mediafinder.com) released today. In addition, religion catalogs grew by 109% from 144 to 301, and education catalogs grew by 52%, from 333 to 506.

“The catalog industry continues to be strong, particularly with the rapid growth of online catalogs,” said Deborah Striplin, Editorial Director of The National Directory of Catalogs. “In 2002, there were over 2,000 catalogs with an online presence out of the 9,522 catalogs listed in the directory. In 2007, that number was 8,402 out of a total of 12,136 catalogs.”

In 2007, the category with the most listings in The National Directory of Catalogs was Books, with 1,148. Other popular categories were Apparel (796), Automotive (553), Education (506) and Gardening (426).

Over the past five years the three catalog categories showing major decline are: Manufacturing from 474 to 239; Gifts and Greeting Cards from 672 to 345 and Computers from 361 to 236 catalogs.

Printers, paper brokers and other suppliers to the publishing industry use The National Directory of Catalogs, with its up-to-date information on new catalogs and contact information, to find qualified sales leads based on detailed production information. Marketers use it to find prospect lists for both print and online sales, while merchandisers find valuable sales outlets.
