"RICH" PUBLICATIONS ON THE RISE FROM 1997-2007,
ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD PERIODICAL DIRECTORY

New York City, Jan. 29, 2007 - Publications targeted to the wealthy grew from 90 in 1997 to 456 in 2007, according to the latest edition of The Standard Periodical Directory, published today.

The Standard Periodical Directory, published by Oxbridge Communications©, Inc., is the largest directory of U.S. and Canadian periodicals, with information on 58,018 magazines, journals, newspapers, newsletters, directories, and yearbooks.

"We’ve seen tremendous growth in niche publications, including affluent publications, with new titles such as X-ology, covering technology and affluent lifestyle in southeast Michigan and Enclave, which features luxury homes in various upscale locations," said Deborah Striplin, Editorial Director of The Standard Periodical Directory.

In addition to the affluent publications, Puzzles (49 to 143), Advertising Shopping Guides (319 to 667), and Ethnic (899 to 1,696) were the top growth categories over the last 10 years.

Declining categories over the past 10 years include Internal Communications (from 1,357 to 222), Business Management (920 to 231) and Political Science & Politics (1,147 to 512).

Striplin commented that over the same period, publications have changed from a print-only format to a combination of print and electronic formats. There are 17,075 publications listed in The Standard Periodical Directory that are available electronically. A total of 5,486 publications are available in electronic format only.

The Standard Periodical Directory 2007 Edition includes listings for 15,732 magazines, 12,069 journals, 13,529 newsletters, 9,735 newspapers, 3,489 directories and 1,010 yearbooks. The new edition of the directory is completely current with more than 5,546 new titles.

Striplin added, "The Standard Periodical Directory is a great tool for librarians, researchers, advertisers, direct marketers, PR professionals and other business and professional people. It helps them find information on more than 58,000 U.S. and Canadian periodicals."

The Standard Periodical Directory includes the publication’s name, phone number, fax, email, URL, editorial description, personnel, ISSN, year founded, frequency, circulation, subscription and advertising rates, list rental and production data, and target audience.
